I’m a lifter, not a runner and have never felt comfortable doing marathons. I’ve done a few for reasons that I can’t seriously fathom now. I do remember however, I have done them kicking and screaming like a pissed off baby without a bottle. Actually, that’s about usually were I am in the running pack. With the 4 week old babies in the strollers with the 2% body fat mothers determinedly pushing that pram. But hopefully that will change soon. I registered for a Tough Mudder in 2013 and need to learn how to run. So I’ve bought a program teaching me how to run in two months- vegetarian style. I started in it January, so it’s still early days yet, but I’ll write a review when I finish it. |
There is a vegetarian site which you may have heard of in the community called www.nomeatathlete.com run (lol) by Matt Frazier. | |
He’s a marathon, running, aerobic junkie. He has two programs designed to up your miles, or kilometres if you’re English. There are as follows,
They both get some great reviews and have been endorsed by some of the biggest names in the Vegetarian athlete community. |

It’s the ‘definitive beginner’s guide to running’ and has an interview with Matt Frazier from “No Meat Athlete” (He’s the author of the other running program I like enough to recommend here). Unlike Matt’s, it is not designed specifically for us vegetarians, but it focuses on the running technique which any good running program should. But an honourable mention goes to him mentioning and including parts for us vegetarian and veganIt’s also a downloadable program like No Meat Athlete’s and comes as a basic guide for $39 and a deluxe guide for $49. The difference includes some audios and extra plans. The basic will do the job, but the deluxe has a few good audios to listen to.He has a few other good programs that you can see if you head over to www.nerdfitness.com. |
